Nobuhle Khuzwayo, known simply as Nobuhle, is a South African Afro‑pop singer‑songwriter celebrated for her voice and culturally infused sound. She was born in Nkandla, KwaZulu‑Natal, and raised by her grandmother, whose spiritual practices had a lasting influence on her artistic direction. Nobuhle’s musical talent was evident from a young age; she joined a choir of older students in primary school and later became the lead singer of her high school choir after moving to Durban.
She pursued formal education at the University of KwaZulu‑Natal, graduating with a degree in Music and Drama Performance and an Honours degree in Dramatic Arts.
Nobuhle officially began her music career in 2020, releasing her debut single Always With Me. She gained widespread recognition through collaborations with prominent South African artists, including her features on Sun‑El Musician’s Never Never and Black Motion’s Hosana. Her debut album “Imvula (2021),” was followed by “Indlela (2022/2023),”both of which showcased her range across Afro‑pop and Afro‑house genres.
She has released several popular singles, such as “iMali” (with Master KG), Phezulu, and Indlela, earning her a reputation as a leading female voice in contemporary South African music. Nobuhle has received nominations from major national award bodies, including the Metro FM Music Awards and the South African Music Awards (SAMAs), affirming her influence and success in the industry.
Her artistic style, often referred to as “African spiritual writing,” melds traditional rhythms with contemporary electronic sounds, with performances noted for their emotional depth and connection.
