Journey
Nanette Sphesihle Nobethu Mbili is a Durban-born singer and songwriter who has reshaped South African R&B through raw, honest storytelling. While she moved to Johannesburg in 2020 to study law at Wits University, the city's creative environment steered her toward recording. She first gained major traction with her 2022 debut, Bad Weather, an album written during lockdown that reached the top ten on Apple Music charts and earned a SAMA nomination for Best R&B Album.
Her versatility became clear through her massive success in the Amapiano scene, specifically her chart-topping work with Kelvin Momo on tracks like "Fool Me." Since then, she has deepened her sound with projects like The Waiting Room and her 2025 album Painfully Happy. By working alongside artists like Nasty C and Blxckie, she has bridged the gap between traditional soul and modern South African sounds. Today, Nanette is defined by her "therapeutic" approach to music, turning personal growth and heritage into a distinctive, cross-genre career.
