Myztro, born Tshiamiso Sekowe in Soshanguve, Pretoria, is a South African DJ, record producer, composer, and songwriter. Raised in a Christian household and inspired by a family deeply connected to music, he discovered his passion at an early age while playing the piano and drums in church. Those formative years helped shape not only his musical ability but also the work ethic that later defined his career. He attended Reitumetse High School and later studied at Tshwane University of Technology before deciding to pursue music full-time.
Although he is the younger brother of renowned producer and DJ 'DJ Maphorisa,' Myztro has worked hard to build a name that stands on its own. His journey into music began with DJing, production, and dance culture, eventually leading him to develop a distinctive sound that blends Amapiano with the raw, energetic rhythms of Pretoria’s Bacardi music scene.
His breakthrough arrived through a string of successful releases, including “Emcimbini,” “Dipatje Tsa Felo,” “66,” and “Tabela.” The success of “66,” created alongside Felo Le Tee, earned Multi-Platinum certification and established him as one of the genre’s fastest-rising talents. Collaborations with artists such as Focalistic, Kabza De Small, Sha Sha, and Aymos further expanded his reach and influence.
In 2022, Myztro released "031 Nkwari," a release that showcased his growing confidence as a producer and creative visionary. The momentum continued with "Nkwari 2.0," which earned him the South African Music Award (SAMA) for Newcomer of the Year in 2023. He has also received nominations at the All Africa Music Awards and the Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards, reflecting his growing impact on African music.
Myztro is highly recognized for pushing Amapiano in fresh directions while staying connected to the sounds and culture that shaped him. Through innovation, collaboration, and an unmistakable musical identity, he continues to play a key role in the genre’s ongoing evolution.
