Myles Shannon is a South African guitarist and music producer born in Malawi, who later moved to several countries while building his career. He grew up in a family that hoped he would follow a traditional profession, but everything changed when he picked up an electric guitar at 14. The instrument quickly became his passion, and although he later studied mechanical engineering, music kept pulling him in a different direction.
Over the years, he has lived in South Africa, the United Kingdom, Australia, and eventually Switzerland with his partner, Annetta. After leaving South Africa in 2013 for Australia, he later settled in Blonay, Switzerland, where he set up a small home studio. From there, he records and produces music for local artists, children, and media projects, and he continues to work as a session guitarist.
Shannon’s playing style is warm, clean, and focused on melody. He often draws inspiration from Afrikaans music, which is evident in the titles and tone of some of his songs. Albums such as “Die Lekkerste Kitaaralbum Ooit!,” show his love for simple, tuneful guitar music that is easy to enjoy.
Beyond his own work, he enjoys helping young musicians and giving them the chance to record professionally. Outside of music, myles and his partner enjoy long cycling trips, reflecting his love for adventure and a relaxed way of life.
