Palesa Cynthia Nooe, professionally known as Miss P, is a South African singer, songwriter, and vocalist recognized for her soulful fusion of Afro-pop, house, and contemporary African music. Born in Ladybrand in the Free State, she first gained widespread attention through collaborations with prominent house music acts, particularly Black Motion, where her distinctive vocals featured on songs such as “It’s You” and “Little Blue Girl.” Her emotive voice, storytelling ability, and versatility quickly established her as one of the emerging female vocalists in South Africa’s dance music scene.
Before entering the music industry, Miss P underwent military training and spent approximately two years in the South African military beginning in 2008. Although the experience developed her discipline and resilience, she later left following personal hardships and an abusive relationship that deeply affected her life. These experiences later influence her songwriting, with themes of healing, identity, vulnerability, and self-discovery becoming central to her music.
Miss P began her professional music journey around 2010 as a backing vocalist, working with artists including Maleh, Sai & Ribatone, and Alah Yen. Through years of studio work and live performances, she refined her vocal style while building relationships within South Africa’s music industry. Her breakthrough arrived through collaborations in the Afro-house space, where her warm, expressive tone became highly sought after.
In 2019, she formally launched her solo career with the single “Ngwana Mosotho.” The song represented a significant artistic milestone because it embraced her Sesotho heritage and reflected a journey of personal self-discovery. Miss P described the track as a celebration of identity, culture, and belonging, while also demonstrating her desire to move beyond being known solely as a featured vocalist. The release showcased a broader musical direction that blended Afro-pop, soul, and dance influences.
