Journey
Mbuxx, whose birth name is Mbulelo Majaja, hails from Soshanguve in Gauteng and is a South African artist active in the Amapiano scene, playing a role in shaping the genre’s ever-evolving sound. Raised in Soshanguve, a township known for its vibrant cultural and musical output, Mbuxx emerged during a period when Amapiano was rapidly gaining both national and international recognition.
Strategic collaborations within the Amapiano community have largely defined his career. Working alongside prominent producers and vocalists such as ShaunMusiq, Myztro, LeeMcKrazy, Scotts Maphuma, and others, Mbuxx has established himself as a consistent creative force in collaborative studio projects. His sound reflects the hallmarks of modern Amapiano: deep baselines, rhythmic percussion, layered vocals, and energetic log-drum patterns that drive dance floors.
A significant milestone in his discography is the 2025 EP "Yi Problem," released in collaboration with ShaunMusiq. The project highlights his growing maturity as an artist and demonstrates his ability to blend groove-focused production with catchy melodic elements. Beyond this release, Mbuxx has contributed to notable tracks such as “Mlungu,” “Yibo,” “Woza,” “Busy Boys,” and “S’funi Mali,” further cementing his footprint within the genre.
Though he has yet to receive major mainstream award recognition, Mbuxx’s consistent collaborations and performances, including appearances connected to events like Rekere Fest, signal his rising profile. As Amapiano continues expanding globally, Mbuxx remains part of the new generation shaping its direction, with ongoing releases and creative partnerships positioning him for continued growth in South Africa’s dynamic music landscape.
