Thapelo Khomo is a legendary South African keyboardist, composer, and award-winning record producer. Born in Soweto, Khomo rose to prominence in the mid-1980s before joining the iconic musical supergroup Stimela, contributing his signature keyboard textures to historic, era-defining anthems.
Beyond his live band achievements, he became a powerhouse studio mastermind, producing monumental albums for acclaimed artists like Jabu Khanyile and Simphiwe Dana. His exceptional scoring talents earned him a Vita Award for the historic film Mapantsula, alongside crafting iconic television themes for cultural staples like the soap opera Generations.
Known for his deep versatility, Khomo also released the acclaimed 1998 solo studio album "Imbumba" under the hidden moniker Ma Humble, and later explored atmospheric instrumental sounds on his 2012 album "The African Groove Experience, Vol. 2." A two-time SAMA winner for Best Producer, Khomo remains one of the most respected and influential architects of South African music history.
