Lil Jay Bingerack, born Konan Angelo Wilfried on September 17, 1999, in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, is a rising Ivorian singer and music artist whose work reflects a fusion of African rhythms, Afrobeat, hip-hop, rap, and traditional Ivorian elements. Growing up in the nearby town of Bingerville, Lil Jay’s early environment played a role in shaping his stage identity and musical sensibilities. He began pursuing music professionally in 2016, initially balancing his interest in football with his growing passion for creating songs. Early in his career, he performed with a mask to remain anonymous, gradually unveiling his identity as he refined his style and connected with audiences.
His early work includes the mini-album Apolon (2018) and a string of tracks that brought him attention across West Africa, including Espoir, Sauce graine, Madame, Paiya Paiya, Baoulé Superstar, Zo Amin, and Hi hi hi. In 2023, Lil Jay released the 14-track album Mosaïc on the Black Star France label, associated with GIMS, which features collaborations with his brother El Jay from Kiff No Beat, Joé Dwèt Filé, and Serge Beynaud. The album highlights his ability to blend multiple genres while staying rooted in Ivorian musical traditions.
Beyond recordings, Lil Jay has performed major live shows, most notably at the Palais de la Culture Bernard Binlin Dadié in Abidjan, demonstrating his growing popularity and stage presence. Today, he is recognized as one of Côte d’Ivoire’s emerging voices in modern Afro-inspired music, continuing to release new songs, expand his audience locally and internationally, and bridge traditional and contemporary sounds in a style that reflects both heritage and innovation.
