Lady Jaydee, professionally known as Judith Wambura Mbibo, was born on 15 June 1979 in Shinyanga, Tanzania, into a family of nine siblings. Her early exposure to music and support from her family fueled a passion that would define her life. After completing primary school at Bugoyi and secondary school at Zanaki, she pursued a professional music career in 2000, releasing her debut album Machozi. Her early work marked her as one of the first female artists performing R&B in Swahili, making a lasting impact on the Bongo Flava scene.
Over the next two decades, Lady Jaydee became known for evolving her style, embracing Afro pop and contemporary Tanzanian sounds. She released albums including Binti, Moto, Shukrani, Nothing But The Truth, Woman, and 20, each showcasing her growth and versatility. Hits like Moto, Shukrani, and Binti solidified her place as a leading figure in East African music.
Her contributions have been widely recognized through awards such as Best Tanzanian Female R&B Artist in 2002 and Best R&B Album at the Tanzania Music Awards in 2004. She has also performed at major events, including the Kora All Africa Competition, and continues to inspire through her music, mentorship, and appearances as a judge on shows like The Voice Africa.
