He began his music career as a session vocalist for the R&B group Maniquin, which led to him becoming the lead singer of the group.
However, he left the group shortly after to pursue a solo career.
In 1994, he signed with Columbia Records and released his self-titled debut album in 1996, which included the hits "Never Too Busy" and "For You," which earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
Lattimore continued to release critically acclaimed albums, including "Uncovered/Covered" in 2006, which peaked at number ten on the Billboard R&B Charts and number two on the Billboard Gospel charts.
