Jocelyne Tracey Keko, professionally known as Keko, was born on June 3, 1987, in Tororo, Uganda. She is a trailblazing Ugandan rapper, singer, and songwriter. Of Japadhola heritage, she faced early adversity after losing her mother and was raised by her sisters and grandmother. She completed her schooling in Tororo, Kampala, and Mbarara and earned a Commerce degree from Makerere University.
Keko’s music career began in 2010 with her feature on Fallen Heroes, but she rose to prominence with the hit single How We Do It. Her discography includes the mixtape Paranoid (2014) and the album Strides (2016), featuring songs such as "Make You Dance," "Alwoo" (Cry for Help), and "Go Green." She has collaborated with prominent artists like Juliana Kanyomozi, Radio & Weasel, and Angella Katatumba, and performed at festivals including Selam Festival in Ethiopia and Big Brother Africa.
In the mid-2010s, Keko faced personal challenges, including mental health struggles and substance abuse, leading her to relocate to Canada, study Film Production, and focus on recovery. She has openly shared her journey and sexuality, becoming a role model for marginalized communities in Uganda.
