Journey
Johnny Dimba, also affectionately known as "Incwasimende," was a multifaceted star in the South African music industry. Over a career spanning three decades, he excelled as a musician, poet, and one of the country’s leading entertainment lawyers. Holding three law degrees, Dimba brought unparalleled dignity to the Maskandi genre, serving as a vital legal advisor to artists and a champion for intellectual property rights.
He is most celebrated for his radio hit "Dear Msakazi" and his significant contributions to the Sony Music Africa compilation, "The Best of Traditional Zulu Music." His discography includes soulful tracks like "Ngiqoph' Umlando" and "Amabhungu," which blended deep social commentary with traditional Zulu rhythms.
A staunch activist against piracy, Dimba’s legacy remains that of a sophisticated scholar and artist who used both his voice and his legal expertise to empower the South African creative economy until his passing in January 2015.
