Journey
Jean-Claude van Leeve, known as Jay Claude, is a prominent South African R&B singer and songwriter. Born in Johannesburg his multicultural upbringing heavily shaped his signature fusion of smooth, soulful R&B and modern trap-soul.
He made his definitive solo debut in 2019 with the standalone single "90's Jump Off" featuring Stilo Magolide. This paved the way for his debut extended play, R&Being, in July 2020. The project established his solo presence through standout tracks like "Karma Sutra", "Freak of the Week", and "Sumbody" featuring Lucille Slade.
Beyond solo artistry, he is the South African hip-hop scene's definitive "hook master." His melodic delivery has anchored massive collaborative singles, including "Roots" with Zakwe and Stogie T, "Vicky" with DJ Speedsta, and "D W Y M" alongside Zoocci Coke Dope. He remains an essential voice bridging underground hip-hop and commercial R&B.
