Jason Mark Hartman, famously known as Jason Hartman, is a South African singer-songwriter, guitarist, and advocate for the environment. Growing up in a musical household, he started playing alongside his father, Sam, and brother, Scott, in a family band that toured various locations in South Africa. His early experiences influenced his soulful and down-to-earth style of music.
Hartman gained national recognition in 2009 when he became the co-winner of Idols South Africa Season 5, after a voting hiccup caused a tie with Sasha-Lee Davids. This achievement propelled him into the public eye, where he was praised for his engaging stage presence and rock-pop vocal delivery.
Later that same year, he debuted with the album "On the Run," which included original songs like “Break the Silence,” reaching the top of the Nokia Top 40 SA chart. The album mixed pop-rock, folk, and country elements, highlighting his powerful voice and thoughtful lyricism.
In addition to his success in South Africa, Jason has also performed internationally, including at the Monaco Grand Prix and for the Prince and Princess of Monaco, expanding his reach beyond his home country.
Away from music, Hartman is passionately engaged in environmental and humanitarian initiatives. As the founder of Men of Trees, an NGO that focuses on eco-friendly gardening and environmental education, he promotes ecological awareness and community improvement.
