Jamie Foxx, born Eric Marlon Bishop in Terrell, Texas, is an American actor, comedian, singer, songwriter, producer, and television personality whose career spans comedy, film, television, and R&B music.Raised by his maternal grandparents, Foxx developed an early connection to music through classical piano and church singing. He attended United States International University, where he studied musical and performing arts composition. Comedy became his first major professional outlet, and in 1991 he joined the cast of "In Living Color," gaining attention through impressions and recurring characters. He went on to star in "The Jamie Foxx Show," which premiered in 1996 and established him as a prominent television performer.
Foxx's transition into film brought increasingly demanding roles. He appeared in "Any Given Sunday," "Ali," and "Collateral" before delivering his breakthrough performance as Ray Charles in "Ray" (2004). His portrayal earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor, along with a BAFTA Award, Golden Globe Award, and Screen Actors Guild recognition.
