Journey
Alexandre Nachepal Da Silva So, professionally known as Jalex da Silva, is a singer, songwriter, and music producer originally from Bolama, Guinea-Bissau, and currently based in Madrid, Spain. He is known for his smooth vocal style and his ability to merge Afro-influenced rhythms with contemporary R&B, Kizomba, and Latin-pop sounds, often performing in Spanish to reach a wider international audience.
After leaving Guinea-Bissau, he spent part of his early adult life studying abroad, including in Morocco, before relocating to Spain in 2000, where he developed his music career. Over time, he became active in the independent Afro-diaspora music scene in Europe, building a catalogue that reflects emotional storytelling and cross-cultural musical fusion.
Among his most recognized works is the multilingual single “Mama” (2020), released in French, Spanish, and Creole versions. The track showcases his signature romantic style and international approach to songwriting, and it stands as one of his most visible digital releases.
Earlier in his career, he released albums such as "Twice" (2007), "Mi Mundo" (2010), and "A Tu Lado" (2017), which helped establish his presence within the Afro-pop and New Pop landscape. He is also active as a producer and operates a recording setup in Madrid known as LEXRECORDS, where he collaborates with other artists across African and European markets.
Jalex has appeared in Spanish media outlets, including TVE, Tele5, and Telemadrid, reflecting his gradual visibility within Europe’s diaspora music space. His artistic identity continues to center on multilingual expression, romantic themes, and Afro-European musical fusion.
