Born Jacob Mynhardt Louw on May 20, 1979, in Oudtshoorn, South Africa, Jakkie was always the child with a melody in his heart. By high school, he was performing in local bands, and at Stellenbosch University, his guitar was a constant companion, accompanying him from lecture halls to student pubs.
In the early 2000s, South Africa was introduced to his unique style through albums like "Makietie!" and "Alles In Een Glas," which made him a staple on Afrikaans playlists. He followed up with hits like "Marietjie Se Hoender," "Gemaak in S.A.," and "Drie Pikkewyne." His 2014 compilation, "20 Goue Treffers," reminded fans of the many sing-along anthems he had already created.
