Journey
Born Julimar Santos Oliveira Nepomuceno on April 27, 1985, in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, J-Son moved to Gothenburg, Sweden, at age five with his mother. Growing up between Brazilian musical traditions and Sweden’s urban culture shaped the bilingual, cross-genre style that defines his music.
J-Son began his professional career in 2008, releasing singles such as 'Lookie Lookie' and 'Pretty Boy,' which introduced him to Sweden’s hip hop and pop community. In 2009, he released his debut album 'Never Half Stepping,' which peaked at number 48 on the Swedish national chart Sverigetopplistan. Mixtapes, including 'The Smoke Mixtape' (2008), 'Same Blood Compilation' (2009), 'European Hustle' (2009), and 'Global Attack Mixtape, Vol. 2' (2011), further established his early presence.
He has collaborated with artists such as Eric Saade, Remady & Manu-L, Mischa Daniels, and Salem Al Fakir, contributing to charting tracks across Europe. He has also opened for international acts including Fabolous, 50 Cent, Joe Budden, Lady Gaga, and Musiq Soulchild.
J-Son’s music fuses hip hop and pop, pairing rap verses with strong hooks. His bicultural upbringing allows him to create both club-ready tracks and radio-friendly pop rap. Beyond solo work, he contributes to other artists’ projects with hooks and production.
Moving from Brazil to Sweden has shaped J-Son’s artistic voice, giving him a perspective that bridges cultures. While 'Pretty Boy' brought initial recognition, he has maintained relevance through collaborations, charting tracks, and continued releases across Europe, cementing his presence in international urban music.
