The Imilonji KaNtu Choral Society is an acclaimed South African community choir established in Soweto in 1982 by George Gobingca Mxadana. Named "Sweet Sounds of the People," the choir used traditional African choral music as a powerful tool during the anti-apartheid struggle, performing at significant political funerals and rallies. They are celebrated for revolutionizing the choral scene by incorporating African dance, dress, and drumming into formal performances. Imilonji has performed at Nelson Mandela's inauguration and Archbishop Desmond Tutu's funeral, and they have won numerous national awards and toured internationally as cultural ambassadors for South Africa.
