Journey
Tshepo Howard Mosese, professionally known as Howza, is a veteran South African performer and actor who has enjoyed a prolific career spanning over two decades. Born on July 19, 1983, in Diepkloof, Soweto, he first entered the entertainment scene in 2002 as a member of the hip-hop collective Gunpowder. His undeniable charisma and vocal talent soon caught the attention of industry heavyweights, leading to a successful solo career that bridged the gap between raw Kwaito rhythms and melodic R&B.
His professional recording career was significantly bolstered by major label distribution and licensing agreements, which allowed his work to reach a massive audience and established him as a mainstay on national radio and music charts. While his artistry earned him a dedicated following, his transition into television made him a true household name across the continent. He has portrayed iconic characters in some of South Africa’s most beloved series, including Backstage, Generations, and a definitive multi-year run on the hit drama Scandal!.
Outside of entertainment, Howza is admired for his transparency and social leadership. Having been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in his early twenties, he has dedicated much of his platform to health education, serving as an ambassador to inspire youth living with similar conditions. He and his wife, Salamina Mosese, are frequently cited as one of the industry’s most enduring couples, exemplifying a life of professional excellence and committed community service.
