Those appearances placed him inside the core of South Africa’s piano movement, not as a guest passing through, but as a producer shaping its tonal direction.
Born Gavee Wise Ngcebo in Soweto, Housexcape began producing at 15, drawing early influence from his older brother’s work in kwaito. That grounding in township rhythm later evolved into a refined Amapiano palette. He became associated with the rise of the “Sgidongo” and “Private School” sub-genres, favoring layered melodies and restrained percussion over abrasive drops. Tracks such as “ICARD” with Mpho Spizzy and Young Stunna, “Sgidongo” with Tribesoul, and “35 Steps (Sgidongo Mix)” with Nkulee501 reflect that sensibility.
His 2024 projects "Moon Knight" and "The Last Days of Summer (Deluxe Edition)" further established his instrumental voice. In 2025, releases like “War,” “Uwedwa,” and collaborations including “Woza Cartel” and “Malunde” signal continued momentum.
