Journey
Grannysmith is a 1990s South African pop-rock band. From its beginnings in the upper Valais region, the band embraced energetic punk rock, later gaining exposure beyond its local scene. Their debut album, "First Drop," was recorded in Stuttgart and released in 2004 on the independent label Fasttone Records. It features 16 tracks that range from driving punk numbers to more varied styles, earning strong reviews and helping them land spots at major festivals like Greenfield, Southside, Openair Gampel, and Zeltfestival Konstanz.
In 2006, they recorded their second album, "Friendly Fire," again in Stuttgart, delivering 17 songs that show growth and diversity in songwriting. While the core line-up typically uses guitar(s), bass, drums, and vocals, occasionally adding saxophone, the band has maintained its signature high-energy performances. Grannysmith’s reputation is built on dynamic live shows and steady progression, earning respect in both Swiss punk circles and alternative rock audiences.
