Geuzin (born Ignatius Moalusi Ntshebele), also known as Dr Mageu or “Geuzin Wamampela,” was a South African kwaito artist from Chiawelo, Soweto. He emerged during the late 1990s and early 2000s, when kwaito was a dominant force in South African township music culture.
His approach was built around street language, humour, and chant-style phrasing, giving his work a direct and instantly recognisable identity within the genre. He was closely linked to the TKZee creative network, appearing on “Fella Kae,” where his repeated ad-libs became a defining element of the track’s reception.
His independent catalogue includes "Geuzin Wamampela," "Guz 2001," and tracks such as “Six-Nine,” “Asthengi Skelem,” and “Loxion/Kasi.” These releases reflect themes drawn from township life, nightlife, survival, and everyday street commentary, delivered without formal filtering or commercial smoothing.
He also worked within the broader kwaito ecosystem, including connections to groups such as Brothers of Peace and other artists active during the genre’s peak years. His presence remained rooted in collaborative environments across the South African urban music space.
Geuzin died in September 2008 while serving a prison sentence. Despite his passing, his name continues to circulate within kwaito culture through archival releases, DJ sets, and nostalgic replays tied to the genre’s early mainstream era.
