Journey
Yoan Makangou, better known as Genezio, grew up in Villeneuve‑Saint‑Georges, a Paris suburb alive with French rap and the rhythms of diverse cultures. Music was his escape and his playground. As a teen, he experimented with Audacity on school computers, recording himself and friends, trying to capture the beats swirling in his mind. Summers in Brazzaville, reconnecting with his family roots, infused his style with Congolese rhythms that would later define his sound.
By 2021, Genezio’s voice began appearing online. His Vibestars freestyles combined rap français with sing-song hooks, each track a glimpse into his world, mixing street stories, family memories, and youthful energy. Streams climbed, clips were shared, and the buzz around him grew.
This momentum carried into his first structured project, "Vibestars: Pré‑Saison," followed by "Saison 1" and "Saison 2," which included collaborations with Leto, Ms Tungi, Dadju, and Naza. When "Saison 2," a triple mixtape, hit No. 35 in France, Genezio had stepped out of the online bubble and became a recognized voice in French hip hop.
In 2024, he embraced bounce music, teaming up with MHD, Tiakola, Ronisia, and La Mano 1.9, releasing tracks that connected clubs, streets, and screens across France. His debut album, "Les Dents du Bonheur," arrived in 2025 with features from Gims, Niska, Himra, and Nej, proving his versatility and command over both energy and emotion.
Genezio’s music carries the pulse of Paris, the soul of Congolese rhythms, and the curiosity of an artist always reaching for more. He does not just rap, he narrates, sings, and moves through his songs, creating experiences that feel lived-in and real. For listeners seeking authentic, melodic, and bold voices, Genezio is a storyteller whose journey is just beginning.
