Journey
Long before his music reached audiences across Africa, George Kofi Mensah, professionally known as G-West, is a Ghanaian Afrobeats singer and songwriter from Kumasi Ashanti Region, who started nurturing his musical skills early. He discovered his passion for music during high school, performing at school events and developing his songwriting before relocating to Accra to pursue music professionally.
He began building his career independently through a series of singles that established his presence in Ghana's Afrobeats scene. Early releases such as "Akosua," "Quickie," "On Me," "For You," "Nobody," "Foes," "Walahi," "Bingo," "IDK," and the mixtape "Young Amakye Dede" introduced his melodic songwriting and contemporary sound. His collaborations with Joey B, Mr. Eazi on "Oyedede," and Bisa Kdei on "Bonto" expanded his audience, while performances at Afrochella increased his visibility.
In 2024, G-West signed with 610Music and released "People Pleaser," produced by Ghanaian Stallion, marking a significant step in his career. He continues to release new music while growing his catalog and collaborating with artists and producers across Ghana's contemporary music scene. His work reflects modern Afrobeats, combining melodic songwriting with themes of relationships, ambition, and everyday experiences.
