Journey
Frank Casino, born Nhlanhla Tshabalala in Kempton Park, Tembisa, Gauteng, South Africa, is a South African rapper, songwriter, and record producer known for his smooth, atmospheric trap-influenced sound and international delivery style.
He began developing his musical skills in the mid-2000s while still in school, eventually forming a group called 'Krunk Era' with friends in 2005. The group gained early exposure after performing on YO TV, one of South Africa’s leading youth television platforms, which led to a recording deal with an independent label.
After years of groundwork in group projects and independent releases, Frank Casino rose to mainstream attention in 2016 following his standout guest feature on “Mayo” by DJ Speedsta, alongside Shane Eagle, Yung Swiss, and Tellaman.
He followed this breakthrough with his solo single “Whole Thing”, which became one of his defining early hits and expanded his radio presence across South Africa. His style, often described as polished, laid-back, and globally influenced, set him apart within the South African hip-hop landscape.
In 2018, Frank Casino released major projects, including the EP "Heroes of Tomorrow," featuring collaborations with Cassper Nyovest and Major League DJz, further solidifying his position in mainstream South African rap.
He continued evolving his sound with releases such as “Come Alive,” “Sudden,” and later projects under his own creative direction, maintaining a reputation for cinematic production, melodic hooks, and introspective themes centered on ambition, success, and lifestyle transformation.
