Fiesta Black, whose real name is Thandi Nakampe Mokgoankgoa, was raised in Orange Farm, a township located south of Johannesburg. Raised in a community where music and dance were central to everyday life, she developed a passion for singing at an early age. Influenced by township sounds such as house music and kwaito, she began performing at local events and community gatherings while nurturing her dream of becoming a professional artist. Despite financial challenges during her youth, she remained determined to pursue a music career and gradually built her confidence as a performer.
Her breakthrough came in 2013 when she featured on the hit single “Xigubu” by DJ Ganyani. The energetic house track quickly became a massive success across Southern Africa, dominating dance floors and radio stations while gaining millions of online views. The song’s popularity earned nominations at the Channel O Music Video Awards and the Metro FM Music Awards, firmly establishing Fiesta Black as one of the notable female voices in the region’s house-music scene.
Following the success of “Xigubu,” Fiesta Black continued to build her musical career through collaborations with several DJs and producers within the African dance-music industry. In 2016, she released her debut album "Queen Nakampe," a project that reflected her personal experiences and artistic growth. The album strengthened her presence in the industry and showcased her vocal style within the evolving Afro-house movement.
Throughout her career, Fiesta Black has worked with artists such as DJ Stavo and other regional producers, contributing vocals to several dance tracks that resonated with club audiences across Southern Africa.
