Fid Q, whose real name is Fareed Kubanda, was born in Mwanza, Tanzania. Many consider him one of the most influential figures in Tanzanian hip-hop. Early voices within Bongo Flava shaped conscious rap, and he was among them. Developing his passion for music in the late 1990s, he officially entered the public music scene in 2000 with the release of "Huyu na Yule," a track that introduced audiences to his thoughtful lyrical style.
Fid Q built his reputation by addressing social realities such as governance, inequality, youth struggles, and daily life experiences. His ability to combine poetic expression with strong messages set him apart in the industry. Over the years, he released albums including "Vina Mwanzo," "Propaganda," and "KitaaOLOJIA," each reflecting artistic growth and commitment to meaningful storytelling.
In addition to recording and performing, Fid Q has played a role in developing Tanzania’s hip-hop community by mentoring upcoming artists and supporting creative platforms. His track “Glory 2” received Grammy consideration in 2025, an important milestone for his career and Tanzanian music internationally.
