Ella Kotze is a South African singer, stage performer, and motivational speaker whose career spans Afrikaans contemporary music, theatre productions, gospel performance, and collaborative recording projects. Born in Prieska in the Northern Cape, she developed her musical foundation early before matriculating in 1980 and entering professional touring circuits with established South African performer Sias Reyneke. That period introduced her to the realities of live entertainment, stage presentation, touring schedules, and audience engagement across the country.
In 1983, she relocated to Bloemfontein and became involved with PACOFS, the Performing Arts Council of the Orange Free State. During this time, she formally studied vocal performance under Sheila Fox, refining a performance style grounded in theatrical interpretation, Afrikaans contemporary music, and inspirational repertoire. Her association with PACOFS broadened her involvement in theatre productions and concert appearances throughout South Africa.
Kotze later gained strong recognition through collaborative performances and duet recordings with Phillip Kotze. Together, they built a repertoire focused on Afrikaans contemporary music and faith-oriented material, becoming familiar figures within South African cultural and concert spaces. Her collaborative work also includes projects with artists such as Rina Hugo, Janita Claassen, and Thabo Pitse, placing her within a wider network of Afrikaans and crossover performers.
Her recorded catalogue includes the children’s release "Ella en die Woelige Bytjies" and the solo album "Ek Wil Niks Terug Hou Nie," released in 2014. The project reflected themes of faith, personal reflection, and inspirational Afrikaans songwriting presented through theatrical vocal interpretation and adult contemporary arrangements.
