Yanga Mzimkhulu Zodala, professionally known as Drega, is an innovative South African music producer and DJ originating from Dutywa in the Eastern Cape. With a background in visual arts, he approaches music production with a distinct creative lens, meticulously crafting highly atmospheric and textured electronic soundscapes.
Initially gaining traction in the Durban dance scene, Drega eventually pioneered a futuristic sub-genre of Afro-Tech that he describes as a fusion of "grit and grace." This unique signature sound involves layering raw, traditional African tribal rhythms over slick, electronic precision. His immense talent caught the attention of Grammy-winner Zakes Bantwini, who signed him to Mayonie Productions.
Drega has since delivered massive club anthems, including the certified hit "Mabebuza" with Maline Aura and "Dutywa To Kwamashu." He remains a vital force pushing the boundaries of contemporary African electronic music on global stages.
