Domokaya better known Precious Juma Mkona, is a Tanzanian Bongo Flava singer, songwriter, and performer best known as one-half of the iconic duo Mandojo & Domokaya. Emerging in the early 2000s, he quickly became a standout voice in Tanzania’s urban music scene, celebrated for his rich vocals, dynamic stage presence, and ability to blend Afro-pop, R&B, and traditional Tanzanian rhythms.
Alongside Mandojo (Joseph Francis Michael), Domokaya produced hits like “Nikupe Nini,” “Dingi,” “Wanok Nok,” featuring Lady Jaydee, Niaje featuring Juma Nature, and “Taswira,” featuring Inspekta Haroun. While the duo did not release full albums, their singles and collaborations left a lasting mark on Tanzanian music and helped define the sound of early 2000s Bongo Flava.
Following Mandojo’s tragic passing in August 2024, Domokaya has continued to honor their shared legacy by performing their music and creating new songs, cementing his role as a leading figure in Tanzanian urban music.
