Journey
Kamogelo Malapane, the artist behind the Dlala Regal brand, has become one of the most respected figures in South African dance music. Born on May 15, 1996, in Daveyton, his journey began not in the studio, but as an avid collector of deep house and hip-hop. This early exposure to complex rhythms allowed him to develop a "clean" production style that distinguishes him from the more aggressive "Sgidongo" sounds. After mastering the decks and supplying music to local DJs, Malapane released his debut EP, AmaPiano 1520, in 2019, named after his hometown's postal code.
His breakthrough arrived in 2021 with "Dlala Captain," a track that achieved platinum status and introduced his melodic, groove-centered approach to a global audience. Malapane’s success continued with the 2022 anthem "Mpolaye" and the TikTok-viral hit "Umshini." Unlike many producers who focus solely on digital releases, he has focused on building a business legacy through Vibe Boys Worldwide, a creative hub he co-founded to host events and manage emerging talent in the East Rand.
By 2025 and 2026, Dlala Regal has transitioned into a "veteran" of the scene, known for his technical skill and his ability to collaborate with heavyweights like Scotts Maphuma, LeeMcKrazy, and JazziQ. His recent work, such as the Sgubhu Projects Vol. 2 and hits like "Angeke," showcases an artist who is constantly evolving. Today, Kamogelo Malapane stands as a visionary who values musicality over trends, ensuring the "Regal" sound remains a cornerstone of the international Amapiano movement.
