Journey
Deeply entrenched in the cultural fabric of Pretoria, Tiego Samuel Motau, professionally known as Dinho, stands as a primary architect of the Amapiano genre. Affectionately dubbed "President Ya Flaka" by his Mamelodi West community, his musical roots took hold at sixteen. Heavily influenced by his grandfather's vinyl archives and the house music legacies of icons like Vinny Da Vinci, he began his journey playing local events using equipment provided by his mother.
Dinho’s path to stardom was balanced by academic discipline; he successfully completed a Civil Engineering degree at Tshwane North College before pivoting entirely to music. To ensure his creative output matched his ambition, he underwent professional production training in Hatfield, transitioning from a township DJ to a sophisticated sound engineer. His mainstream arrival was solidified in 2020 through the Thokoza Café collaboration with DBN Gogo, a project that birthed the anthem "French Kiss" and garnered significant industry accolades.
As a businessman and philanthropist, Dinho’s influence extends far beyond the turntables. He is the mastermind behind “Dinho Café,” a massive musical pilgrimage that draws tens of thousands to Moretela Park every Boxing Day. His commitment to social upliftment is equally impressive; through his foundation, he utilizes his platform to support local education, famously exchanging concert admission for sanitary product donations. Now a flagship artist for Sony Music Africa, Dinho continues to evolve with releases like "Mavhoko," proving that a global career can be built on a foundation of local loyalty and community service.
