Danielle Hitchcock is a multidisciplinary South African creative known for her work in music, illustration, graphic design, and immersive art projects. Based in Cape Town, she has developed a reputation within South Africa’s independent creative scene through collaborations spanning garage punk music, visual identity design, festival branding, and installation art.
Hitchcock first gained visibility in the country’s underground music community as a member of the South African garage-punk band The Dollfins. The group released the album "I’ll Do What You Want Me To" in 2014, with Hitchcock contributing as both songwriter and performer. The band became associated with Cape Town’s alternative surf-punk movement, characterized by lo-fi production, energetic live performances, and DIY aesthetics.
She also collaborated musically with South African artists outside the punk genre. Danielle Hitchcock appeared as a featured vocalist on “Seksueel Surreal” by Vegas from the 2014 album "Beste Tyd van Jou Lewe," released under Sony Music Africa. Her creative partnerships extended into psych-surf and electronic projects, including collaborations with the Cape Town-based band Beach Party.
Beyond music, Hitchcock established herself as a respected visual designer and illustrator. Her portfolio includes branding, editorial design, illustration, signage systems, and experiential design projects. She has been involved with South African arts and gaming initiatives, including Playtopia Festival, where she contributed website and design work for Africa’s leading indie games and immersive arts festival.
Her artistic practice increasingly expanded into large-scale immersive installations and collaborative art experiences. In 2023, she collaborated on “Monster,” an interactive installation presented at Playtopia Festival, blending sculpture, playful design, and experiential storytelling.
Alongside her South African creative work, Hitchcock has maintained an active independent illustration and design career, showcasing digital artwork and visual experimentation through platforms including Dribbble.
