Journey
Dre‑A, born Brou Andréa Carolle on 9 October 2000 in Bouaké, Côte d’Ivoire, is a prominent Ivorian rapper and hip‑hop artist who has rapidly risen in the West African urban music scene. Growing up in a vibrant community where music and culture were integral, she developed an early passion for rhythm and storytelling. While pursuing a degree in communication at Université Alassane Ouattara, Dre‑A began sharing rap freestyles online, quickly gaining attention for her confident delivery, sharp wordplay, and energetic style.
She made her official debut in October 2019 with the single “On fait comme dab”, followed by other early releases including “Loi” and “Focus”, which showcased her lyrical skill and unique voice. Her freestyle track “On peut faire ça” further amplified her presence, later gaining wider recognition through a remix featuring rapper Apocahuero. In 2023, she signed with Sony Music Côte d’Ivoire and released the 7-track EP Rap Ivoire C’est Pas Lycée Garçon, a project whose title, meaning “Ivorian rap isn’t child’s play”, asserted her seriousness and artistic identity in the genre.
Dre‑A’s music blends rap, Afro-pop, and contemporary urban beats, allowing her to explore themes of ambition, self-confidence, and personal experience while reflecting life in Côte d’Ivoire. She has been recognized for her contributions to rap, including nominations and awards highlighting her as one of the leading female voices in Ivorian hip-hop. Known for her creativity, determination, and bold stage presence, Dre‑A continues to expand her influence, inspiring young artists and solidifying her place in West African music.
