Journey
Born Malcom Mncube in Beitbridge, Zimbabwe, DJ Radix discovered his love for music early on but didn’t start out as a full‑time artist. After finishing school, he moved to Johannesburg and took a regular job, yet all the while he was crafting mixes and beats just for fun and for friends. Music was never part of a strict plan for him at first, but that early passion gradually nudged him toward pursuing it more seriously as a career.
Radix began putting his creative work online and his tracks started drawing attention from South African hip‑hop fans and local radio. His self‑made momentum helped him break into the broader industry and eventually led to a record deal with Sony Music Africa, a major step that opened up production and release opportunities on a wider scale. Under that deal he put out music such as Black Jacks featuring Makwa and L‑Tech, showing his knack for energetic collaborations.
In 2020 DJ Radix released the EP IGNIUM II, a seven‑track project that included feature spots from established names in South African hip‑hop and showcased his ability to bring different voices together in a cohesive way.
Known for exploring modern hip‑hop rhythms and urban influences from his surroundings, Radix keeps pushing his sound while staying true to the creative instincts that first drew him into music. His path reflects steady growth, hands‑on learning, and a growing presence in the South African music space.
