D-Malice, born John Smith, is a versatile UK house DJ, producer, remixer, label manager, and A&R specialist. His journey in music began as a teenager when he started DJing, and by 17, he ventured into music production. His prior work drew inspiration from iconic producers like Pete Rock, J-Dilla, Madlib, and MF Doom. Dedicated to his craft, D-Malice pursued a formal education in music technology, studying at Bedford College and later earning a bachelor's degree in music technology from the University of West London. In 2010, he achieved a significant milestone with the release of his debut single, "Poison," on Defected Records. Following this success, he continued to release music on various record labels before establishing his own DM recordings.
