Journey
Gugulethu Palesa Modise, professionally known as Civil Soul, grew up surrounded by music. Born and raised in South Africa, she began singing at community and church gatherings from a young age. Those experiences fine-tuned the expressiveness that now defines her work in Amapiano and house music.
Rather than launching as a solo artist, Civil Soul built her career through collaborations with DJs and producers, adding her voice to rhythm-driven tracks in ways that complemented the music while leaving her mark. Her first significant spotlight came with DJ Stoks’ 'Abalele' from the album "Sculptured" (August 2025), where she contributed both singing and songwriting.
She went on to appear on projects like "Imikhonto" with Sobzeen and Mel Muziq, and "Duze Kwam" with Sol Phenduka, Hlonivic, and Man-K, steadily gaining attention across South Africa.
Civil Soul’s performances are defined by clarity and emotional depth, and her songwriting often reflects love, reflection, and connection. With each release, she continues to grow her presence in Amapiano, earning recognition across streaming platforms, radio, and live shows.
