City Bowl Mizers is a Pop/Rock & Roll band from Durban, South Africa, popular in the mid-2000s. They were a five-person group: Kurt Peinke (guitar, keyboards, singing), Martin Barrios (singing), Matt Reardon (guitar), Ally Heath (bass), and Chris Morgan (drums).
Their music mixed old-school rock and roll speed with easy-to-remember pop tunes. They aimed for a happy, exciting sound, which they called the "soundtrack to the Durban lifestyle." They sang about the beach, sun, and having fun, standing out from other rock bands that were often more serious or moody.
The band quickly became known for their great live shows and traveled widely across South Africa. Their first full album, Lights Out (2006), was a big success, put out with Sony Music. It was highly praised, even getting a top 5-star review in Blunt Magazine. They played for huge crowds, including at major events like the Quiksilver World Championship. To reach more people, the band moved to London in 2006 and built up a strong reputation by touring the United Kingdom.
