Chunda Munki is the stage name of Blayze Saunders, a South African DJ, producer, and electronic music artist born and raised in Johannesburg, Gauteng. He is known for his energetic style of house music, tech house, and electronic dance production, combining groovy basslines, rhythmic percussion, and high-energy club sounds.
He began his music career around 2008, starting as a self-taught DJ playing small underground events, house parties, and local clubs. In his early years, he performed for very small audiences, gradually building recognition in Johannesburg’s underground house music scene.
His early breakthrough came through EP releases such as “Figures”, which helped establish his production identity and gained attention from South African DJs and club audiences. Over time, he became known for a signature sound described as “groove-filled, jackin’ house with strong rhythmic energy.”
As his career developed, Chunda Munki expanded into larger venues and festivals, performing at major South African events including Ultra South Africa and other large electronic music festivals. He also held club residencies, including underground venues in Johannesburg, which helped refine his live performance style.
His 2017 album "Interference" marked a major milestone in his career, reaching number one on the iTunes South Africa dance charts and showcasing his experimental approach to electronic music production. He has since continued releasing projects such as "Lolacita" in 2019 and other EPs and albums that reflect his evolving sound.
Chunda Munki is also recognized internationally, having toured outside South Africa and built a growing global audience while remaining strongly rooted in the South African house music scene. His performances are known for high energy, crowd interaction, and dynamic mixing that blends underground grooves with festival-ready intensity.
