Thulisile Madihlaba, known professionally as Chomee, is a South African singer, dancer, and choreographer celebrated as the “Queen of Dance.” Born on October 6, 1986, in Soweto, she discovered her love for music at the age of nine and began her journey in entertainment as a dancer. Her talent was recognized early by Arthur Mafokate, a pioneer of kwaito music, who introduced her to his label, 999 Music. Under his mentorship, Chomee transitioned from dancer to recording artist, establishing herself as one of the most dynamic performers in the country.
Her music blends kwaito, R&B, house, and pop, reflecting both her versatility and her roots in South African urban culture. Over the years, she has released several albums, including First Time, Twice as Nice, My Fantasy (2007), Queen of Dance, Songstress, and The Show (2011). Known for her bold stage presence and energetic choreography, she became one of the most booked female performers in South Africa during her peak.
Beyond music, Chomee expanded her influence into media, serving as a judge on SABC1’s dance reality competition Turn It Out in 2011. She also pursued education, graduating from the University of Johannesburg in 2012 with a National Diploma in Media Studies.
Chomee’s career embodies ambition, resilience, and creativity. From her beginnings as a child dancer to her rise as a recording artist, she has remained a prominent figure in South African entertainment, inspiring audiences with her artistry and shaping the landscape of local pop and dance culture.
