Theatre became an early passion for Cape Town-born Chantal Stanfield, eventually leading her into a multifaceted career spanning acting, singing, dancing, voice artistry and puppetry. Born on July 8, 1983, she grew up in Muizenberg on the Cape Flats before studying Theatre and Performance at the University of Cape Town, where she earned a bilingual BA.
Stanfield began establishing herself professionally on stage, taking the lead in Jaco Bouwer’s “Mixed Metaphors” at Artscape in 2006. Her theatre credits later included “Mamma Mia!”, “Ladies First” and “80’s All-Stars”. One of her most personal projects was “From Koe’siestes to Kneidlach”, a solo production she wrote and performed in 2017. Drawing from her Cape Flats upbringing and marriage into a Jewish family, the autobiographical comedy explored cultural differences through humor and personal storytelling. The production received positive critical reviews, including four stars from The Citizen.
Her television career developed through a succession of roles in Afrikaans productions. She appeared as Florys in “Geraldina die Tweede” and Dalene Phillips in “Montana”, followed by roles in “S.I.E.S.”, “Roer Jou Voete”, “Getroud met Rugby” and “7de Laan”. Later credits included Sasha in “Binnelanders”, Wenitha in “Swartwater” and Jade in “Ak’siSpaza”. In 2026, she joined “Paradys” as Natasha Malgas.
Stanfield has also appeared in film, including “Die Staat se Bul”, “’n Hondelewe”, “Farewell Ella Bella” and “Die Skandaal”. Alongside acting, she has pursued music with an R&B-influenced style. Her releases include “Walk It Off” featuring King Monopoly and “Nothing There”, both issued in 2018. In 2026, she collaborated with Chymamusique on “Love Worth Fighting For”, a deep-house song about lasting love. Her husband, singer and producer RJ Benjamin, has contributed to several of her musical projects.
With more than two decades in entertainment, Stanfield continues to work across television, theatre and music, maintaining the versatility that has defined her career.
