Jacques Moolman, professionally known as Chambers, is a South African singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer whose music spans rock, ambient indie-pop, and soulful, introspective sounds. Born in Johannesburg and raised in the North West province, he developed his musical skills early, mastering piano, guitar, bass, and drums.
Moolman first rose to prominence as the frontman of the rock trio Shadowclub, delivering high-energy performances and blues-infused rock. The band won a South African Music Award (SAMA) for Best Rock Album, performed at major festivals like Oppikoppi, and opened for international acts including Kings of Leon.
In 2016, he launched his solo project Chambers, exploring ambient, dream-pop, and electronic textures. His debut EP, "Chambers Deluxe," features tracks like "Heaven’s Got No Place," "Morning Love, and Love Spell, combining ethereal vocals, downtempo rhythms, and cinematic soundscapes. Collaborations with producers such as Craig Massiv and Peach Van Pletzen showcase his versatility and innovative approach.
Moolman continues to release music that blends blues, folk, Americana, and electronic elements, including singles like Sticky Noise and the album The Great Valley Redemption. Known for authenticity and emotional depth, he crafts songs that are both immersive and therapeutic, demonstrating his enduring dedication to genuine, heartfelt music-making.
