Journey
Ch’cco, born Shiko Matlebjane on 24 February 2000 in Soweto, South Africa, is an Amapiano artist known for lively tunes and township-rooted storytelling. Raised between Soweto and Mamelodi, Pretoria, he grew up surrounded by Kwaito, hip-hop, Bacardi house, and Afrobeats, shaping his bilingual style in Tswana and English.
He began his music journey in 2019 with Ch’cco’s Duo, a hip-hop-inspired project that highlighted his writing and performance skills. Gradually, he turned to Amapiano, embracing its piano-driven rhythms and dance-ready beats. His breakthrough came in 2021 with the viral hit “Nkao Tempela,” produced with Mellow & Sleazy. The song reached platinum status, gained viral attention online, and established him as a standout South African artist.
Since then, Ch’cco has collaborated with Focalistic, Pabi Cooper, Kelvin Momo, and Vigro Deep, taking part in projects that celebrate Pretoria’s Pitori music culture. His 2025 album with Focalistic, B.O.A.T.S., reflects his commitment to expanding Amapiano’s reach.
Tracks like “Pele Pele,” “Dzepa,” and “Kontrol” show his versatility and ability to combine storytelling, energy, and cultural relevance. With a growing audience across Africa and beyond, Ch’cco continues to release music that resonates with fans and strengthens his place in South African music.
