He first stepped into the mainstream spotlight around 2014 after featuring on Uhuru’s explosive hit “Y-Tjukutja.” His distinct vocal tags and energetic delivery became one of the song’s most memorable elements, helping it grow into a nationwide anthem that dominated South African airwaves. The success of the record placed him in the public eye, even though he was often mistaken as a full member of Uhuru—something he later clarified while continuing to pursue his own artistic path.
Following that breakthrough, DJ Buckz became a familiar name in high-level collaborations across the continent. He worked alongside prominent artists such as DJ Maphorisa, Wizkid, Kwesta, Heavy-K, Afrotraction, and Okmalumkoolkat, contributing both as a vocalist and behind-the-scenes creative force.
