Bongani Kevin Nchang is a South African singer and songwriter whose career reflects both artistic versatility and spiritual conviction. Born in Klerksdorp, he rose to prominence as a founding member of the Afro-pop group Malaika, alongside Jabulani Ndaba and Matshediso Mholo. The group became one of the most celebrated acts in South Africa during the early 2000s, with their debut album and hit single Destiny earning widespread acclaim. Malaika went on to win numerous awards, including Kora, South African Music Awards, and Channel O Music Video Awards, cementing their place in the country’s musical history.
After years of success in Afro-pop, Nchang shifted his focus to gospel music, a transition that reflected his personal faith and desire to inspire through worship. He became a familiar face on television as co-host and band leader of the SABC2 programme Gospel Classics, where he showcased his passion for sacred music. In 2017, he released his solo album Wonders of Mercy under Sony Music Entertainment Africa, a project that blended African rhythms with contemporary gospel and featured tracks such as God of Miracles, Worship Medley, and The Devil Is a Liar.
