BlaQRhythm is the stage name of Mbuso Ntokozo Zindela, a South African Afro-house producer, DJ, songwriter, and electronic music artist from Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal. He developed an interest in music during his teenage years, beginning to experiment with music production and rhythm from around the age of 15. Drawing inspiration from Afro-house, deep house, electronica, and deep-tech music, he cultivated a distinctive sound characterized by hypnotic grooves, layered percussion, atmospheric textures, and melodic depth.
BlaQRhythm first established himself within South Africa’s electronic music landscape through productions and collaborations associated with Distruction Records, working alongside artists such as Babes Wodumo, Mampintsha, Distruction Boyz, and Argento Dust. His breakthrough into the mainstream came with the acclaimed collaboration “Amadolo” alongside Zakes Bantwini and Drega, a release that introduced his music to a wider audience and highlighted his ability to merge traditional African rhythms with contemporary electronic production.
His growing catalogue includes notable releases such as “iMvula,” “ISINTU EP,” “Amashumi,” and the "XXVI" EP that further cemented his reputation as one of the emerging voices in Afro-house. Through collaborations with artists including Citizen Deep, Maline Aura, Marco Pex, Atmos Blaq, and others, BlaQRhythm has continued to expand his creative reach while contributing to the evolution of South Africa’s dance music culture.
