His journey in entertainment began informally during his adolescence, performing in small venues before making his initial studio recording with the group "The Giants" in 1959.
Forrest achieved significant commercial success in 1964 with his breakthrough hit single, "Hello Operator," which rapidly climbed to the top of the music charts. This achievement not only secured a Gold Disc Award but also established his prominence in the pop and country genres. Known for his clever management of radio airplay rules, Forrest famously recorded under several aliases to ensure his music received maximum exposure. These pseudonyms included the notable Quentin E. Klopjaeger, whose track "Lazy Life" also topped the charts in 1974 alongside William E and Dennis. This strategy highlighted his exceptional versatility and tireless work ethic.
