Marco Benassi, professionally known as Benny Benassi, is an Italian DJ, record producer, remixer, and songwriter whose work has played a central role in the development of electro house. Born in Milan, Italy, and raised in Reggio Emilia, he began his career during the late 1980s, performing alongside his cousin Alle Benassi before moving into music production. The duo worked behind the scenes for several European dance acts throughout the 1990s, building experience that later shaped Benassi's distinctive production style. His first major commercial success arrived in 2001 under the alias KMC with the single "I Feel So Fine," featuring vocalist Dhany, which topped the UK Club Chart and introduced his productions to an international audience.
Benassi achieved worldwide recognition in 2002 with "Satisfaction," a release that became one of electronic music's defining records. Its mechanical bassline, minimalist arrangement, and innovative production techniques helped establish electro house as a global genre and influenced a generation of producers. The accompanying music video further increased the track's visibility, while extensive club support and international chart success positioned Benassi among dance music's leading artists.
His debut album, "Hypnotica" (2003), earned a European Border Breakers Award, reflecting its commercial success beyond Italy. He expanded his catalog with "Rock 'N' Rave" (2008), "Electroman" (2011), and "Danceaholic" (2016), collaborating with artists including Chris Brown, Gary Go, John Legend, Serj Tankian, Ne-Yo, Kelis, Madonna, T-Pain, and David Guetta. Tracks such as "Cinema," "Beautiful People," "Dance the Pain Away," and "Paradise" strengthened his reputation across electronic and mainstream music markets. Skrillex's remix of **"Cinema"** became a landmark release in the rise of dubstep and introduced Benassi's work to a new audience.
In 2008, Benassi received the Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording for his remix of Public Enemy's "Bring the Noise," recognizing his contribution to electronic music production and remix culture. Beyond his solo releases, he has remained active as a remixer, producer, label founder, and international touring DJ, performing at major festivals including Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival, EDC, and Coachella.
