Ben Paul (sometimes spelled as Ben Pol), born Benard Michael Paul Mnyang’anga in 1989, is widely celebrated as the "King of Swahili Soul." Hailing from Dar es Salaam, he developed his vocal prowess at the Tanzania House of Talents, a foundation that helped him revolutionize the East African R&B landscape. He first grabbed the public's attention in 2010 with the hit single "Nikikupata," a standout track from his first studio album, Maboma.
Throughout his extensive career, Ben Pol has remained a dominant force in Bongo Flava, releasing cultural staples like "Moyo Mashine," "Sophia," and the record-breaking collaboration "Muziki" with Darassa. His creative range is evident in his transition from the soulful ballads of his 2014 self-titled project to the sophisticated themes of his 2024 album, Flamingo. This dedication to his craft has earned him multiple Tanzania Music Awards, specifically for Songwriter of the Year and Best R&B Song, as well as international recognition from AFRIMA and AFRIMMA.
Beyond the stage, Ben Pol is a committed advocate for social and environmental causes. Serving as a UN SDG Champion and working with groups like WildAid and the WWF, he utilizes his fame to champion sustainability and climate awareness. Whether through his headline performance at the 2026 Sauti za Busara festival or his work with the Ben Pol Foundation, he continues to blend musical innovation with a strong sense of social responsibility.
